years Job Description To work closely with all members of the surgical team to provide direct surgical patient care pre-operatively, perioperatively and post-operatively in an effort to optimize positive surgical outcomes.
Participates in the coordination of OR schedules, inventories, par levels and process improvement activities.
Anticipates the needs of the surgical team.
Assists with the teaching of newly hired technologists and student technologists.
Serves as a role model to new employees and other staff members Communicates effectively with patients, staff members and physicians.
Adheres to standards, including but not limited to:
unit and hospital policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals.
Demonstrates appropriate and correct case preparation.
Establishes and maintains sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment independently.
Applies basic knowledge of instrumentations to multiple surgical cases.
Corrects deficiencies at the case level.
Performs technical duties involving care, preparation and maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment in the operating rooms in order to provide a safe and effective environment.
Completes unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents Required Qualifications One (1) year of experience as a surgical technologist.
